Statistics that Boggle the Mind

Last Thursday night, Brittany and I attended A Benefit for Jefferson Center for Mental Health – A Night at the Car Museum. We had a wonderful time talking with people and finding out more about the programs and support being offered by the Jefferson Center. At one point, Harriet Hall, President and CEO, stated that one in four people will experience a mental illness in their lifetime. This was surprising to the majority of people at our table which surprised Brittany and me.

So, I thought it might be helpful to folks if I put together a post on some of the statistics that reflect the world of Learning Differences

Conclusions?

From the various analyses that I have read, there is very little agreement on what these statistics mean. But, from my way of thinking, it looks like our educational system has a long way to go to meet the needs of the students who don’t fit our traditional educational system.
Do you have any statistics you like to quote? Do you disagree with my simple analysis?
